What a decant actually is

A decant is a smaller quantity of an original fragrance, transferred from the manufacturer’s bottle into a glass atomiser.

It is not a miniature sold by the fragrance house. It is not a tester. It is not a refill, a clone, or something “inspired by” the original. It is the same liquid from the same bottle, in a different container.

If a shop cannot tell you which bottle a decant came from, that is worth asking about.

The process, step by step

1. We buy the full bottle. From authorised distributors and suppliers we have worked with long enough to trust. Sealed, never pre-opened.

2. We check it before opening. Batch code, packaging, cellophane seal, bottle weight and finish, spray pattern, and the smell itself against what we know the fragrance should be. Most fakes fail on at least two of these.

3. We open it and it never goes back. Once a bottle is cracked open it becomes a decanting bottle and nothing else. We do not top up, we do not blend, we do not combine batches.

4. We pour to order. Not in advance. A decant that has been sitting half-full on a shelf for three months is not the same fragrance as one poured last night. Air is what degrades fragrance, faster than time does.

5. Glass atomisers only. Plastic reacts with fragrance oils over time, particularly with the higher concentration extraits. Glass does not.

6. New atomiser every time. No reuse, no rinse-and-refill. A trace of the last fragrance ruins the next one.

7. We fill slightly over. A 3ml decant contains a little more than 3ml, because a small amount is always lost to the atomiser mechanism and you should get what you paid for.

What we do not do

We do not dilute. Adding alcohol to stretch a bottle is the oldest trick in this business and the easiest way to make more money from the same juice. We do not do it. If a fragrance seems weak, that is how the fragrance is, and our product page will usually have said so.

We do not sell oils as decants. Fragrance oil is a different product with different behaviour. Some shops blur this. We do not stock it at all.

We do not resell returns. An opened decant that comes back to us is destroyed, not put back into stock. This is why our returns policy is narrow, and we would rather explain that than quietly resell something.

About batch variation

This is the part most shops will not tell you.

Fragrances change. Manufacturers reformulate, regulations restrict materials, and natural ingredients vary by harvest. Two legitimate bottles of the same fragrance, bought years apart, can smell noticeably different.

Creed Aventus is the most famous example, but it is far from the only one. Cool Water, Sauvage and most of the older designer pillars have all been reworked repeatedly.

When someone says a decant “does not smell like their bottle”, batch variation is usually the reason. It is not a defect and it is not dishonesty. It is perfumery.

It is also the single best argument for buying a decant. You are testing the batch that exists now, not the one someone reviewed in 2019.

Why our prices differ between fragrances

The per millilitre price tracks what the bottle cost us, not a fixed markup.

A 30ml decant of something that costs ৳4,000 a bottle and a 30ml decant of something that costs ৳60,000 a bottle are not the same product, and we do not price them as if they were.

You will sometimes find a 3ml decant that costs more than a full bottle of something else. That is not an error. It is what the juice costs.

What you actually receive

• A glass atomiser in your chosen size
• Labelled with the fragrance name and size
• Filled from a sealed, authentic bottle
• Packed to survive a courier who does not care

Our atomiser sizes are 1ml, 3ml, 6ml, 10ml, 15ml and 30ml. Approximate spray counts are listed on every product page, because “how long will this last me” is a more useful question than millilitres.

If the atomiser fails

Sprayers occasionally clog or stop pumping. It is a mechanical part and it happens.

Message us and we will send a replacement atomiser free of charge so you keep the fragrance you paid for. If the fragrance was lost because of the fault, we replace the decant but we will required necessary video proof to claim it.
