Olibanum

Olibanum is the perfumery name commonly used for frankincense, the aromatic resin collected from Boswellia trees. It can be distilled or extracted to highlight fresh, resinous and mineral facets as well as smoke. It typically smells resinous, citrusy, mineral, peppery, pine-like and smoky. It works from the heart into the base, adding dry radiance and a cool incense character to woods, ambers and resins. Olibanum and frankincense refer to the same resin; this page should emphasize the raw-material/perfumery term while Frankincense targets the more familiar consumer wording.
