Frankincense is the aromatic resin of Boswellia trees. When used in perfume it can smell bright and mineral as well as smoky, making it more complex than the generic idea of burning incense. It typically smells resinous, citrusy, peppery, smoky, mineral and slightly pine-like. It is mainly a heart-to-base material that adds lift to resins, dryness to amber, and a meditative smoky character to woods.
